Kyrgyzstan has recorded a record increase in vineyard area.

Kyrgyzstan's agricultural sector has seen a significant upswing in viticulture development. According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Agriculture, the total area of vineyards in the country reached 2,870 hectares by the end of 2025. This is 225 hectares, or 8.5%, more than the previous year. This positive trend has also impacted production volumes: the gross harvest increased to 5,990.1 tons, with an average yield of 20.5 centners per hectare.

To significantly upgrade the industry, the government has placed emphasis on importing proven planting material. In the first half of 2025, seedlings from Serbia, which passed strict quarantine controls, were imported into the country. Particular attention was paid to virus-free and industrial varieties capable of producing a stable yield in the local climate. At the same time, the focus of viticulture development is shifting to the Batken region. In the Leilek district, specifically in the Zhany-Zher rural district, cooperatives are already growing the modern varieties "Avatar" and "Kishmish." A new nursery is also preparing to open there, specializing in the production of "Avatar," "Monicur Singer," and various varieties of sultanas.

The digitalization of the industry through the launch of a unified Agroportal has become an important part of supporting grape growers. This platform allows farmers to eliminate red tape and access government services online. Currently, the portal allows farmers to quickly resolve issues related to tariff quotas, registration of breeding farms, biological plant protection, and agrochemical soil testing. The creation of such a digital space helps market participants quickly obtain up-to-date information and implement modern technologies in their fields.
